Throughout the last year I’m willing to bet that you’ve heard someone say that EDM’s rendition of trap music would die off, or maybe they said that it wouldn’t last or that it is merely a fad within the scene. Well, the WhiteRaverRafting team strongly disagrees as we think that the sounds that revolve around the “chill trap” realm are the sounds of the future.
It’s possible that big room styled “festival trap” will grow into a smaller market, given its structure and lack of innovation, though at the end of the day if people are enjoying a certain style of music – it won’t go away. This isn’t a popularity contest, we understand that everyone has different tastes, however, in general “chill trap” has expressed itself to be not only a diverse sub-genre, but a limitless one. Which leads us to encourage readers to give it a chance.

1. The boundaries are being pushed within this world by talented musicians and sound engineers who wear a modest cap – in short they deserve to be heard. Lesser known acts such as Geek Boy, $aturn, Milo Mills & Noi and GRMM – to name a few – have been working effortlessly to fine tune their styles into something that everyone can enjoy. Each chill trap creator, from what I have heard, has left the door open, making it so that anything is possible with this style. TheEDMNetwork’s Chill Trap account is the first to highlight these lesser known acts on a massive platform, in turn they’re helping share some great tracks within this sub-genre on a large-scale. We respect that.
2. There are a lot of free downloads. While this might be a lame reason to like an account… when the music is compelling and on top off that free, it’s bound to draw any electronic dance music lovers attention.
3. Their exclusives and premiere are outstanding. Over last four months TheEDMNetwork’s Chill Trap account has hosted phenomenal exclusives and premieres by/for artists such as GRMM, Evoke & Pusher, KRNE, Skunk and Phase One. Peep some our favorites below and let us know your thoughts.
4. And finally, they’re consistent. Since this account was established it has pushed out new music on almost a daily basis. Not many people, aside from us bloggers, has enough time to spent on a computer digging for music everyday. Their upload rate is rather impressive given the size of TheEDMNetwork’s other accounts and their demands.
Overall, WhiteRaverRatfing wouldn’t be hard-pressed to say that TheEDMNetwork is helping manage and filter a sub-genre of “EDM” that we think is going to possess some of the cleanest, most innovative sounds over the next year or so. We like to give credit where credit is due and this account needs to be heard by anyone who’s interested in expanding their musical horizon.
