WRR was excited and honored to cover this year’s ATX festival with a wonderful fusion of genres. Euphoria was set to shift gears from the previous year’s vibe. The festival has shifted gears from being a predominately EDM festival to an electro-soul festival. Making those changes, Euphoria acquired an unique and unified crowd that most strive for, but fail to achieve. With amazing vibes and stellar performances, Euphoria has set the bar high for other festivals moving forward this year. Here are our eight most inspiring and buzz-worthy acts from Euphoria this year.
Manic Focus
Manic Focus tops our list for his glitch-hop-y and high energy set. He sampled some of the greats ranging from “Gin and Juice” to “Shining Star.” But his diversified set didn’t stop there mixing in just about every upbeat genre you could think of to put together a well rounded set that shows that true talent is shown with diversification.
Govinda
We happily stumbled upon Govinda because of the Dragonfly Amphitheater was our favorite spot the entire weekend and Govinda had one of the biggest crowds at this small stage. For our first time seeing his set, and after seeing the crowd and their reaction, we now know why.
Govinda sounds like a young Beats Antique. His music and performance reminiscent of an Electric Forest vibe. Althought the sound was dark at times, it also had a very mystical and enchanting aura to it. With the use of violins, he was able to set himself apart.
The Geek x VRV
The Geek x VRV channeled their France-inspired style with their signature European beats. Sampling everything from GRiZ to Odesza all while keeping their originally creative sound, it was a sound to be heard.
Skrux
Dallas-native Skrux was a great surprise at Euphoria. Playing a late night set, Skrux helped the crowd crush the darkness with his emotionally-infused dubstep set. Using a huge range of samples, Skrux knew how to uniquely set himself apart and set himself apart as one of the best sets on Saturday.
Viceroy
When we first stumbled upon Viceroy, we had no idea who was playing. However it didn’t take long to hear that signature electro-pop fusion that had us knowing exactly where we were. Playing an amazing remix of an Empire of the Sun track paired with “Uptown Funk” mixed and throwing in a crazy remix of “Ignition” by R. Kelley the whole crowd
Savoy
With great tunes, come great visuals. And that’s exactly what Savoy gave us. Playing into their signature dubstep, but also throwing in some crowd favorites like “Welcome to Jam Rock”, they knew exactly what the crowd what we were looking for.
DVS
With a set filled with chill live guitar solos, along with his wife and daughter coming out to support him, DVS was shining. Sampling included the likes of Odesza, Disclosure, and many others. The night was filled with electro-soul grooviness that we’ll never forget.
Vibe Street
Vibe Street played two different sets at Euphoria with each as unique and awesome as the other. With soulful grass-hop, the groove was real. His down to earth personality shined through his music as he played with unlimited emotion. Vibe Street definitely captured a lot of fans for life this year at Euphoria
WhiteRaverRafting had a great time covering Euphoria this year. This festival as always continues to be a new and unique experience every year in Austin. Here’s to many more years to come!
