With the release of the Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago schedule the other day (finally!), excited Midwesters are starting to piece their weekends together. The sun will be setting around 8:00 PM every night at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, so we’re helping you prepare for an amazing Memorial Day Weekend with eight possible soundtracks for sundown.
1) Rebecca & Fiona [ Friday | 7:30-8:30 | Kinetic Field ]
Everyone recognizes Rebecca & Fiona’s voices from Kaskade’s “Turn It Down,” but the Swedish DJ duo has an exciting year ahead with their sophomore album coming out on Ultra Music. Keep your ears open for their new track “Union,” and its accompanying music video that is part ABBA, part fantasy, and part Geisha:
2) Anna Lunoe [ Friday | 7:15-8:15 | Circuit Grounds ]
This Australian vocalist and DJ embraces all spectrums of EDM, releasing tracks on the Fools Gold record label, singing on to the nu-disco style “I Met You” with Flume, and topping Beatport’s Indie Club chart with her 90’s-house influenced collaboration with Touch Sensitive called “Real Talk.” We’re definitely looking forward to Anna’s fresh sound at the Circuit Grounds.
3) EDX [ Saturday | 7-8 | Kinetic Field ]
EDX has been on my must-see list since my ears were treated by the sounds of his track “Touched”- the second song in his weekly podcast below. Following EDX’s melodic house set at Kinetic Field is Hard Rock Sofa, which should definitely make for an interesting transition…
4) Tritonal [ Saturday | 7:30-8:30 | Circuit Grounds ]
Whether they’re play at noon or 5:00 AM, Tritonal’s energy is off the charts. Their newest track “Bullet That Saved Me” successfully kicked off ASOT 600 Miami, and we can’t wait to hear it again. These guys are powerful trance producers and live DJs that can’t be missed.
5) Clockwork (c/w) LIVE [ Saturday | 7-8 | Neon Garden ]
If you’re looking for a mellow, techno beats to jam to while the sun sets, the Neon Garden is the place to go. For many Chicago-based fans, this may be your first chance to hear tracks from Clockwork’s new album B.O.A.T.S (Based On A True Story) live. And if you just can’t get enough. they’ll be back at Spy Bar on June 7th.
6) Mt Eden LIVE [ Sunday | 7-8 | Bass Pod ]
The sun may be going down, but the bass will be all the way up for this dubstep duo from New Zealand. Get a taste with their minimix below.
7) Worthy vs Christian Martin [ Sunday | 5-8:30 | Neon Garden ]
This would be a unique way to kick off the day, Worthy and Christian Martin will be playing back to back for a three and a half hour set of bassy house, in true Dirtybird style. Just imagine the bliss resulting from a fusion of the artists behind the mixes below…
8) Adrian Lux [ Sunday | 6:45-7:45 | Circuit Grounds ]
A perfect time slot for the DJ who’s got crowds singing “We don’t sleep when the sun goes down, we don’t waste no precious time.” Adrian has been getting main stage slots at major festivals this year, and if his promo mix from last summer is any indicator as to why, it’s because his Prydz / SHM / Tiesto-inspired set is exactly what the neon-clad crowd wants to hear.
Get ready to go ’til 4!
