Trap producer Ekali recently released three fire remixes of his latest track, ‘Babylon.’ ‘Babylon’ is intense and foreboding, with a slower rhythm than your standard trap song. It features bars by Denzel Curry which are highlighted by the haunting background vocals. The song gained in popularity after being featured on the NBA 2K18 trailer and continues to rack up millions of streams.
The first remix is by the all-star team of Skrillex and Ronny J. The addition of build/drop sequences adds some depth, and this version is a little bouncier than the original as well. The ‘OH MY GOD’ sample from ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ makes an appearance here, too, and puts a smile on your face even amid a darker song.
Sober Rob & Oshi’s version is a little jazzier, with a lot more instrumentation. It has a lighter groove than Ekali’s original version, perfect for if you’re in the mood for some bass but not too much.
The last ‘Babylon’ remix comes from Josh Pan and X&G, who take the most liberties with their edits. This is a more eclectic version, with a melody that speeds up and slows down in waves and truly keeps you on your toes.
Ekali is touring pretty aggressively from now until the end of the year, so if you want to hear ‘Babylon’ – or perhaps one of these remixes, if you’re lucky – live, check out the dates below.
