Alexander Kotz aka Elderbrook has been soothing our souls for a hot minute. After engraving his name into our memory box in 2017 with his (and Homies Camelphat) Grammy-nominated track “Cola” we knew we could expect big from him. Dropping his first single off the album Why Do We Shake In The Cold? in what ended up being a total sh*t show of a year. The British producer brought light to a dark time in 2020 with “Numb”.
Known for putting his thoughts and emotions into his songs. Elderbrook confesses that:
“Numb is about loneliness. I wrote it while I was on tour. It can be pretty lonely traveling around a lot and that’s what inspired this song. The thing that makes the song and video a bit different is the idea that everyone is lonely, which in a weird way brings us all together.”
It’s a song that a lot of listeners can relate to. Pushing all the emotional buttons. The beginning reminds you of a heavy heartbeat, that grows faster as the song progresses and creates tension. The falsetto vocals make you want to close your eyes on the dancefloor and float. A detox to the body and soul. As it builds and breaks, you can imagine this song filling dance floors around the world.
If you’re looking for the next track to add to your Spotify playlist “CRYING” consider “Numb”.
“Numb” is out now on Warner’s sub-label Parlophone Records.
