Electric Adventure’s September 28 event at Six Flags New England has been cancelled and all patrons who have purchased tickets will be fully refunded. The announcement comes only days after two people died from overdose at Electric Zoo and one person at Zedd’s show in Boston.
The official statement from the promotion is as follows,
We apologize for any inconvenience, but Six Flags New England has made the decision to postpone the September 28 Electric Adventure. For any guests that have already purchased a ticket for the event, you will be automatically refunded. Six Flags New England is looking to reschedule the event for 2014, and Electric Adventure will also return next year in multiple cities. We will see you next year.
The decision is being cheered as responsible as some and a gross overreaction by others. It’s probable that the venue recognized that their existing policies were inadequate and that they did not want to undergo the negative attention that would be brought on by local media at the event. This however remains totally speculative.
Two things about these recent events are confirmed; promotions are handling them seriously, and they are dramatically impacting the scene.
