The Connecticut local music scene has grown tremendously in the past few years thanks to the hard work of some very passionate promotion crews. Elemental Minded Promotions is one of the freshest and hardest working music promoters in the state, and after two years of packing shows at New Haven’s hit spot Stella Blues they are ready to expand and show the scene what they’re really made of.
The biggest news about the event is its location, which has been moved from Stella Blues to a secret warehouse location in Waterbury, Connecticut. With this extra space EMP plans to bring in the massive sound of Funktion-One, as well as some venders and visual artists to complete the full underground rave experience. Like all of EMP’s lineups their anniversary party is diverse and balanced, careful to not overwhelm crowds with any one genre or vibe. This particular party however is like a greatest hits collection, featuring a variety of producers who are slowly but surely making their mark on the bass music scene.
The night will start off with Scatz, an experimental producer who’s progressive tunes challenge the boundaries of bass music. With songs like “Spicy Ranch” and “I Had To” Scatz invites the listener to open their mind the magic beyond the 8 bar loop.
Smigonaut entangles breathtaking melodies with surprisingly grimy basslines, carrying you through live sets that can go for airy and uplifting to dark and heavy at the drop of a hat. His dichotomy is one that is a welcomed breath of fresh air in bass music.
Nocturnal Status stays true to their name, repping music that is both dark and powerful. Their latest EP was oozing with menacing basslines and punchy drums that will throw listeners for a loop on those sexy Funktion-Ones
Tsimba & Deez have been throwing down together for over a year now, and with each set they get better as their bond grows stronger. The variety and character that both producers bring to their individual productions shines bright in their work together.
Mickman is currently destroying with his minimalistic bass music. By utilizing massive basslines with subtle but powerful movement the producer is showing that you don’t need anything but the basics to rock a party
Jade Cicada is at the top of his game, gaining more and more popularity thanks to his masterful balance of melody and ultra-clean technical abilities. His unique and awing basses assult the listener with their off-kilter but powerful character, creating a sound that is not to be missed
