BangOn!NYC’s Elements Music and Arts Festival has been a staple in our summer festival circuit for the past couple of years – so it’s no surprise that this year’s event was brimming with all the wild and wonderful New York City vibes that BangOn! continually provides.
Tucked away in a waterside corner of The Bronx, Elements Festival was a raver’s wonderland in an otherwise unsuspecting borough. Hoards of festival goers flaunting furs, platforms, and sequins filed into the venue and were greeted by bumping house music beats and colorful silos peeking out over the Fire Stage.
While rainy weather caused a few delays in the schedule, attendees warmed themselves by the absolutely massive Water Stage, housed in a classically New York City style warehouse with a bumping sound system that quite literally shook up the dance floor.
BangOn! founder The Golden Pony bounced with us at the Water stage as flocks of ravers began to pile into the warm warehouse, and feel-good house music maestro SNBRN warmed us up as we waited for the rain to pass.
After the weather was all clear, we headed over to the Fire Stage to bask in the heat and shuffle to some dirty tech-house beats. With flames shooting up around the DJ booth and San Francisco based label Dirtybird holding it down on the ones and twos, the Fire Stage was easily our favorite spot of the evening. J.Worra and Sage Armstrong had the crowd bouncing with their incredibly deep basslines and seemingly endless house grooves, while Brazilian Dirtybird regular Bruno Furlan absolutely blew us away with his impeccable production and incredible amounts of energy.
Meanwhile, the elusive Air Stage was aesthetically designed to match the low-key techno that it hosted. Airy drapery floated above the crowd while world-famous producer Lost Desert served up breezy, playa influenced beats.
Those with a taste for lower-end sounds crowded around the water-side Earth Stage, where dubstep don Subtronics brought a heavy dose of earth-shaking, headbang-inducing tracks to the delight of thousands of bass-heads. Emancipator smoothed things out for an hour with their impossibly smooth, low-key beats before coveted crowd favorite Bassnectar took over the stage. His incredibly impressive set paired with absolutely enchanting lighting and lasers left even the most seasoned bassheads spellbound, and sealed the deal that Elements is the festival to hit for any and all genres of electronic music.
A big thanks to the boys at BangOn!NYC and Elements for having us yet again! It was a wonderful whirlwind and we can’t wait for the night one.
