DJ Goulding will be making her debut at Surrender Nightclub in Las Vegas on July 26th. While I don’t want to downplay her aspirations, it’s hard for me to take the performance seriously.
When DJs, producers and whoever else wants to talk about the scene being destroyed, we can all point our fingers towards by gimmicks like this. If the show sells well (which it probably will), what’s to stop Surrender or any other club just bringing in special guest celebrities in?
Instead of seeing “Party hosted by XXXXXXX” we’ll see special DJ performance by XXXXXXX. It may appeal to the masses in places like Vegas, but we’ll see how real dance music fans respond.
