One of the Trance Family’s favorite holiday traditions is tuning in to Afterhours.FM’s annual End Of The Year Countdown (EOYC). This year’s countdown ran from December 18 through January 2, and it featured sets from over 300 of the world’s biggest and most talented DJs. This year’s lineup was extremely diverse, with legends such as Armin van Buuren, Markus Schultz, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, and Paul Van Dyk joining together with many other artists (both established and up-and-coming) to provide a fitting end to what has been an incredible year for electronic music.
Due to the overwhelming amount of sets, WRR has decided it would be pointless to try to rank them all. Instead, we picked sixteen sets (in honor of the sixteen days of EOYC) that we feel really embodied the spirit of the event. These sets cover all spectrums of the Trance sound, and they include a good balance between bigger, more popular tracks and lesser-know tracks from artists many of us had not yet discovered.
We really enjoyed tuning in to EOYC this past holiday season, and we love the sense of community and support it promotes between both the artists and the fans. Events like this showcase what makes the electronic music culture so special and unique among other music cultures, in addition to providing an opportunity for up-and-coming artists to expose their music to people they normally wouldn’t have a chance to. We are saddened to see these past 2+ weeks come to an end, but we look forward to tuning in again next holiday season to celebrate what will be yet another boundary-smashing year for electronic music.
