This past weekend, the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors hosted a full moon gathering featuring a singular musician: Erothyme. We took a trek over to CoSM to check out the psybient throwdown, and were not disappointed in what we received. Erothyme’s live production style is a steady formula of clip-launching and live synth work, showcasing impressive skills with his DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Dropping tracks from “Pines and Leaves” to “This Is Going To Hurt”, the soundscapes at CoSM were a freeform mashup of ethereal melodies and groovy rhythms, keeping the dance floor flowing with all sorts of wild moves, hoots and hollers.
This smaller psybient act keeps a healthy following, having garnered a large turnout and taking ample time before his set to interact with virtually anyone who felt like chatting it up with him. His live shows also displayed a wide grasp on live production with different genres, as the expectation for a purely downtempo performance was immediately wiped away once it became clear this was to be a wacky, bass heavy, up & down funktastic performance. We wholeheartedly recommend supporting Erothyme and CoSM with your ticket purchases and best dance moves if you get the chance to catch him at a local venue in the future!
