With Indo Warehouse’s Official SANYFW Kickoff Party set to take place on Saturday, September 10th, it is only right that talented newcomer Ethyr is put on display. The label and South Asian New York Fashion Week have joined forces to feature a stellar lineup of artists Kahani, Kunal Merchant, and Ethyr at Manhattan’s energetic Blue Midtown. SANYFW is a ground-breaking project that hosts premier South Asian designers on the global fashion stage in NYC. Together, SANYFW and Indo Warehouse share the objective of growing the influence of South Asian-inspired art in multiple industries, whether it be fashion or music.
Having a common goal in mind, Divij Raj Singh, known as Ethyr, is a New Jersey-based producer who encompasses his Punjabi roots in his work. As a teenager, Ethyr identified his love for EDM and its rhythmic components, leading to heavy experimentation with various production gear and software. Due to his burning desire to minimize gaps between different cultures, Ethyr chooses to not let the confinements of any one genre stand in his way. He sources his production elements from a vast sonic spectrum, forging fascinating sound progressions and percussive sequences. Starting his career by creating exclusive remixes and edits of prominent South Asian tracks, Ethyr has developed the ability to craft his own originals.
Ethyr’s single ‘Safar’ is the perfect sneak preview for the electric atmosphere that will be at Blue Midtown. It packs a punch of tribal and tech house instruments that is layered with mesmerizing high-pitched vocals. This original production is intensely engaging from intro to outro.
