If you’re a festival veteran (or a newbie that has hit a couple of festivals recently) you’ve probably noticed that a lot of summer events have succumb to the same formulaic approach. Euphoria Music & Camping Festival shatters all cookie-cutter notions with a completely re-vamped third year return. Unimaginable innovations include a prominent location change, the inclusion of live acts, in-house camping opportunities, multiple contests, and for the first time ever – workshops and yoga classes!
1. Location Change
Fans are rejoicing as EMCF returns back home to Austin, Texas this year. For those unfamiliar with Austin, it is often referred to as the “live music capital of the world.” ATX is no stranger to live music and entertainment as it throws Coachella-level festivals SXSW and ACL annually. Thousands of passionate, good vibe practicing music lovers pour in from all walks of life to participate in that one of a kind weird Austin experience. The city is well known for its outdoors lifestyle featuring no shortage of plush scenery, natural wonders, parks and world famous eats.
2. The Lineup
Every artist on the lineup, especially the live music acts, will be on their A-game to impress the cultured crowd that Austin always brings together. Austinites are serious about their music.
“Our main goals are to bridge cultures together and break down cultural barriers“. –Beats Antique
A profound quote by one of the live music headliners, Beats Antique, could not have described the premise of EMCF more adequately. Euphoria’s lineup announcement shocked the world by seamlessly intertwining electronic DJ sets with live jam sessions. While last year boasted an impressive roster of DJs, this year focuses more on integrating what Austin is recognized for (live music) with Euphoria’s core (DJ sets). ZEDS DEAD, Gareth Emery, Tydi, Bonobo (DJ Set), Bro Safari, and DVBBS are some of the boss sets to dominate the DJ Act arena while Beats Antique, Lotus, BoomBox, D.V.S.*, Eminence Ensemble, The Floozies, The Motet Play Jamiroquai, and Keys ‘N Krates will be rocking out for the Live Acts. From uplifting trance to dubstep to electro-soul and funk, White Raver Rafting hasn’t seen a lineup quite this diverse in awhile.
3. Activities, Workshops, Yoga
The most surprising aspect of EMCF 2014 isn’t even the unique lineup, but the different activities that will be available to attendees. Euphoria has evolved into a brand new experience this year with a heavy emphasis on art and fan interaction. EMCF will be debuting the Alloveus Art Gallery curated by Chance Roberts this spring. The gallery will include 15 of the nation’s most talented live painters where guests will get to organically observe a piece of art develop from start to finish. Taking place in Austin, a city with an established art/creative scene, is the perfect atmosphere to witness something so prolific in such pure form.
In the spirit of interactive exhibits, EMCF patrons will also be able to sign up for various workshops which will be scheduled throughout the day. One of the workshops that caught White Raver Rafting’s eye was the introductory classes to the art of DJing. That seriously has to be one of the coolest, most ingenious ideas we have ever heard of! Fans will finally have the opportunity to learn the basic ins and outs of DJing; one of the most highly coveted professions in the world.
Euphoria is also unveiling another brand new concept this year – yoga classes by the Colorado River. We couldn’t think of a better way to start off the glorious euphoric journey every morning.
4. On-site Camping
The good news isn’t over yet, folks. EMCF now offers on-site camping for the first time ever. (And festival goers know that the inclusion of camping ALWAYS equates to a better festival) 2012 offered camp ground refuge close to the venue, but this year it is actually located within the festival. Guests will be able to trek worry-free as the grounds provide all basic amenities such as food and beverages, restrooms and showers. Submerge yourself in the full experience by waking up and falling asleep to the sounds of Euphoria.
Additionally, the party doesn’t have to end when the music acts are finished because EMCF will be providing free late-night/after-hours music in the campground lounge, as well as a Music Bus! Camping guidelines here.
5. Interactive Contests
EMCF plans to make 2014 an especially intimate event by giving fans the ability to enter a multitude of brand new contests. You can now be a part of Euphoria literally and figuratively with a broad range of amazing challenges for every personality type.
First is the DJ CONTEST. Aspiring DJs and electronic artists will be able to win a chance to play on the main stage and/or Austin’s premiere live music festival, SXSW. The top 5 highest voted mixes will be judged by a panel of guest judges and one of the headlining acts. If you’re more of a producer, you can enter Euphoria’s PRODUCER CONTEST. Aspiring producers can win a chance to play alongside acts at Euphoria and/or recieve a full EP or track release on Audiophile Live Records. Euphoria has all areas of the music spectrum covered as you can also enter the LIVE BAND CONTEST. Winners will be able to play their demo alongside various acts at Euphoria. And finally, there is also a ART CONTEST for artists to be announced later this spring. If you aren’t gifted in any of these realms, you can still win the contest for TOP PROMOTER with prizes ranging from swag bags, free tickets and other Euphoria Music & Camping Festival upgrades.
Euphoria Music & Camping Festival has made huge upgrades for 2014 and should definitely be one of the big events you cross off your bucket list. We think that EMCF may become the next big tradition in Austin.
