Covering the iconic Tears For Fears original, The Private Language has released an uplifting cover paired with a video that pulls on the heartstrings. KJ Sawka of Pendulum and Blake Lewis featured on the track, the video is super cinematic and embraces the highs and lows that come with the globally connected culture we live in today. Boasting the genres of electropop, indie dance, and future funk within the cover, a sense of nostalgia is triggered in this experience.
Yet at the same time, the fast-cutting film experience overloads the brain with sensations that are hard to keep up with. The impression all the actions happening at once delivers is a sense of mixed emotions and a reach to the mouse driven by eagerness to replay the video again.
A quote from collaborator Sawka shines more light about the music experience:
“This song was a real challenge to reinterpret. It’s such an iconic song with a unique pulse. we slowed it down to 100 BPM and that changed it enough for an original feel and it fit our style and vibes. We then continued to produce in the way we do our original music by diving deep into the drum parts, vocal and keyboard effects and live bass. It was so much fun to create.”
It’s safe to assume The Private Language put tons of hours of work in to pull the team together, center everyone on a theme, and pull off a highly-technical music video including dozens of people collaborating to make the project a reality. Signed to Black Hole Recordings, this cover of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” does justice to the original and goes above and beyond the call of duty of what a modern music video does commonly entail.
