R&b mixed with dance music is still a new thing relatively. Lots of artists are doing it (Louis The Child, Virtual Riot, Gallant, the label Moving Castle). Even within the niche, the same type of theme/vibe is basically conveyed, most of the time, from the many artists who go for this angle.
Yet, the way Xavier White X Paul Couture approach the situation is without a doubt refreshing. In particular, it’s the drop that cements “Fall In Love Again?” as a single that doesn’t mess around. Instead of going for a big bang, the drop takes a more simple, chiller approach – toning down atmospheric effects and melodies, turning up that 808. The edgy choice made a huge difference for the overall experience of “Fall In Love Again?”
Lush Records has been on top of the Xavier White camp for quite some time, but were keen to ensure keeping this one on the discography – good call.
