Fatum and Dylan Matthew have come together to take us on a journey through their audio scapes, bridging their two worlds with their Ophelia release, “Train to Nowhere”. Fatum is known amongst the EDM world as a legendary duo when it comes to trance, with sweeping melodies that are iconic and accolades across the board. From two Grammy nominations, over twenty remixes and singles landing #1 on Billboard’s Dance chart, and gaining support of scene tastemakers like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, amongst many others, Bruce Karlsson and Chad Newbold have been one of the best in the business since day one.
Partnering with Dylan Matthew, a well-known vocalist who found his rise into the spotlight by garnering 8 million views and counting on his acoustic covers from his Youtube channel, the three have concocted a beautiful track that fits right in at Ophelia. Of course, we know Matthew from his collaborations with Excision, Slander, Seven Lions, Gammer, and Dabin. He really broke through when he joined Slander on “The Eye Tour”, where he showed off his skills on live piano. Outside of these partnerships, he has recently released his own project that fuses indie pop and electronica, Kalopsia.
We find ourselves along for the ride on “Train to Nowhere”, where we would see rolling hills there are floating synths, the conductor’s voice is Matthew’s illustrious vocals guiding us through the countryside, and a gentile piano rocks us side to side. Traveling to destinations of trance and progressive house to melodic and future bass, we get a beautiful blend of their talents. We even get a throwback treat, with the first drop nodding back to that golden era of EDM in the 2010’s where big room sounds were king.
