Filling the gaps between deep house, hard techno, and progressive house, this 4-track EP is something not to skip over if you are keen to any of those 3-mentioned genres. Signed to fast-growing Canadian label Emercive Recordings, experienced DJ/producer Feyln has stitched together something colorful, vivid, and imaginary all in one go.
Dark at certain times, introspective at others, this EP scores a wide range of emotions and themes that provide a platform of intrigue and draw.
“Burn,” starts out slow and easy. The notes hit when it’s needed most and the rhythmic timing itself brings about a healthy therapeutic edge that all proper progressive house does. By mid-way through, getting a sense of what this adventure is going to incorporate becomes ever more clear. Dotting, glitched synths and captivating basslines being apart of the emotional moving parts that make it great.
“I Can Fever,” would fit in the speakers of a sleek cruiser zooming down a futuristic-dystopian highway. Trickled vocal work provides a certain sensualism while the percussion gives sense of grounding. The single fills the body with all sorts of sensations that are electrifying.
“Square Waves” takes a more robotic approach, showcasing a more of the techno side that Feyln includes in his pallet of sounds under this alias. Easily the most trippy and dark of the bunch, this one may be too haunting for those alone at the office with the lights dimmed. Careful.
“Masquerada” cycles everything back to the starting point in a fashionable format, featuring a balance of all three genres mentioned above, it marks a strong ending to a enthralling ride.
