The 20 year old artist from Austria, filous, has released a futuristic, spectral music video for his latest single “Goodbye” featuring vocals by Mat Kearney. For those that have not heard, filous, aka Matthias Oldofredi, is a rising young talent, even landing on Spotify’s “Spotlight Artists of 2016”. His debut EP Dawn has reached over 50 million streams on Spotify and he revamped Christmas for all EDM lovers with his rendition of “Let it Snow”. With his mastery of 18 instruments (and most likely will continue to pursue more), it is clear to see he has a vast oasis of talent that delivers every single time.
“Goodbye” is an example of his skills, with a beautiful blend of folksy guitar, floating synth progressions, and a tranquil pop beat. Combined with Mat Kearney’s smooth voice, we are taken into their daydream. In the video, a man struggles to reach someone he has lost, constantly awakening in other places and never seeming to reach her. The strong hues of blue and red and sci-fi-esque visual effects creates an alternate reality affect, leaving us to wonder if he will ever get there.
