Recently, Filtercrush dropped a remix of “Little Lion Man” by Mumford & Sons, and while it has been getting attention from bloggers everywhere, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
In the intro, there is a grinding synth line that is extremely reminiscent of the intro to Alesso’s remix of “Save The World,” and then the song transitions into a steady beat with the Mumford & Sons song laid over it. At about the 1:45 mark, the song makes a transition into a euphoric progressive build that sounds eerily similar to Alesso’s remix of DEVolution’s “Good Love.” While the melodies aren’t exactly the same, they are very close, and the synths and filtering are almost identical. The similarities continue through the drop, and then the song makes a sudden change back into the steady beat with the M&S track laid over it.
In my opinion, it’s pretty obvious that Filtercrush took an extremely popular song and reconstructed pieces of two of Alesso’s hits in an effort to get their name out there some more. It really seems more like a bootleg than a remix, as the drop lacks any elements of the Mumford & Sons song, and the melody of the drop is completely unrelated to “Little Lion Man.” To make matters worse, the intro/outro are out of left field and don’t mesh well with the rest of the song. In short, this track is unoriginal crap. It may be a free download, but save your hard drive some space and just take a pass on this one. Take a listen below and judge for yourself:
