Put the music first and everything else will come together. LIBK (Let It Be Known) formed in 2012, but began to make headway this year after they won Insomniac’s Discovery Project for Beyond Wonderland. Made up of Harnick Atur, Keith Buhler & Eugene Shun, they truly share a passion for house music that will be key in defining their career and success.
The group is diverse as Harnick Atur is of Punjabi-Indian descent, Eugene Shun, of Taiwanese-Chinese descent, and Keith Buhler of German-Dutch descent. The combination of their separate influences has created a unique cohesive sound, while the group also draws from their hometown of San Jose.
Do you consider yourselves to be producers or DJs first?
We are a group of three people with different backgrounds coming together to make one sound. Our love and passion for house music really brought us together back in the beginning of 2012. We began as a blend of producers and DJs, some of us producers first, some of us DJs first. Harnick and Keith began producing first before DJing whereas Eugene began as a DJ turned producer.
Who are some artists that inspire you?
Deadmau5, Nicky Romero, Wolfgang Gartner, Pendulum, Prodigy, Chrystal Method, Madeon, Daft Punk, GTA, Zedd, Skrillex, Laidback Luke, and of course, Armin van Buuren!
When did you begin making music?
We began producing at different times. For Keith, he began producing as early as high school in 2002; making mostly trance music under different aliases. Eventually, this led him to producing house music in 2010. Harnick began producing music as early as 2007 dabbling in Logic in his animation school. Later on in 2012, Eugene began to experiment with the program Fruity Loops which we all use to this day.
What plans do you have in the upcoming months?
We’re planning to release original works in the upcoming months followed by a possible Spring release of our first EP album. After winning the Discovery Project for Beyond Wonderland in early 2013 we really started to buckle down and focus on our style of music and we are planning those original releases to come out as soon as possible!
