For the first time ever in downtown Atlanta, Shaky Beats Festival will be taking over Centennial Olympic Park on May 20-22 with headlining acts such as Odesza, Major Lazer, Porter Robinson and many more. This three-day extravaganza has a massive lineup for its first year, and it also offers various other experiences such as free freshly filtered water fill-up stations, Jack Daniel’s cocktail bars, a Heineken Live Artitorium and more to enjoy between the artists’ performances.
For this year’s first every Shaky Beats Festival, we are stoked to experience these amenities as well as what each artist can bring to the table. Here’s a look at some of the artists on this year’s lineup:
Yellow Claw
Yellow Claw is an electronic trio from Amsterdam, Netherlands. They began catching the eye of the public when they hosted Thursday night parties at one of Amsterdam’s most famous clubs, Jimmy Woo in 2010. Since then, they have released collaborations with artists such as DJ Mustard, Flux Pavilion and more. Their latest album, “Blood For Mercy” (released November 20, 2015), was a hit with over 21,000 likes on SoundCloud. You can probably tell why, with their electronic mashups of hip-hop with deep wubs.
Marshmello
Who is Marshmello? As once tweeted by the dubstep producer “We are all marshmello. We are all brought together by our love for good music. That’s what this project is all about.” This anonymous electronic wizard released his debut single, “WaVeZ”, in March of 2015. “WaVeZ” has over 600,000 plays on SoundCloud, and since then, Marshmello has released mixes accumulating millions of plays. This DJ isn’t going anywhere but up, and you can check him out here.
NGHTMRE
NGHTMRE has recently been taking the EDM world by storm. Some were introduced to his music when Skrillex made an ID to one of the unknown songs in his 2015 Ultra set as a NGHTMRE song- and people LOVED it. Since then, he has played festivals such as Lollapalooza, TomorrowWorld, EDC Las Vegas, Moonrise, and more. He has collaborated with other artists such as Flosstradamus, Boombox Cartel, Slander and more.
Big Gigantic
Big Gigantic is a dynamic duo consisting of a saxophonist, Dominic Lalli, and a drummer, Jeremy Salken, based out of Boulder, Colorado. They released their first album, “Fire It Up” in 2009, and since then have released 4 more studio albums with collaborations with artists like Griz, Snails, Cherub and more. This electronic, funk-jazz pair has played a wide range of festivals such as Camp Bisco, Wakarusa, Hangout Festival, Voodoo Festival, and many more. Here’s a look at some of their music.
