FNGRS CRSSD very own CRSSD Fest returns this coming weekend for it’s fifth edition at the Waterfront Park in San Diego, California. CRSSD took over Southern California’s festival scene in 2015, and has since left an everlasting impression on festival goers. You often hear attendees rave about CRSSD’s beautiful location, but besides the breathtaking views, the music is what keeps fans coming back.
The Spring edition’s lineup is jam packed with talented artists, particularly of the techno and house sub-genres.
When going through a roster this good, it can be difficult to put together a schedule. In hopes of making your festival planning a little easier, we have decided to compile a list of our top five must-see artists at CRSSD Fest. Here are our must-see’s (in no particular order):
Rødhåd
Techno viking and Dystopian label head, Rødhåd, started his career throwing parties in the outskirts of Berlin, Germany. He eventually landed his own club night, DYSTOPIAN, which in 2012 became the name of his record label. Rødhåd’s style is unparalleled; his sound consists of deep melancholic techno, making him a must-see closing act at the City Steps stage on Sunday, March 5.
Justin Martin
We’ve always been fans of the Dirtybird co-founder, Justin Martin, but the recent release of his ‘Hello Cloud’s’ remix package is really what solidified his spot on our list of must-see’s. The remix LP blew us away, and now we are eager to vibe out to his eclectic bass driven tech house style. You can catch him on Saturday, March 4 at The Palms stage; his label will also be transforming The Palms stage into The Birdhouse on Sunday, March 5. Check out his Beats 1 ‘One Mix’:
Yotto
Anjunadeep artist Otto Yliperuttula, better known as Yotto, has the ability to cross genres and do so effortlessly and beautifully. This unique skill has gained him support from some of the most prominent names in dance music, including the likes of Pete Tong, Lane 8, Tiesto, Mark Knight, and Above & Beyond. Last year, Yotto released “The Owls” on Anjunadeep, resulting in massive support from his peers. Pete Tong went on to select the track as his radio show’s Essential New Tune, making this his fourth Essential New Tune on BBC’s Radio 1 show. Yotto will be taking the City Steps stage on Saturday, March 4. Make sure to check out “The Owls” below and make your way over to his set this weekend!
Sonny Fodera
We know what you may be thinking, “you guys just did a CRSSD artist spotlight on Sonny Fodera“. This is true, but to be honest, we just can’t get enough of the talented house producer. The Aussie producer is on our list of must-see’s because he’s known to play a set filled with reworked classics from various legendary house producers. If you enjoy house classics and just feel good music to sing-a-long to, then Fodera is the guy to check out on Sunday, March 5 at The Palms stage. Take a listen to “Always Gonna Be” featuring Alex Mills from his latest album,‘Frequently Flying’ below:
Dusky
Last, but certainly not least, we have Nick Harriman and Alfie Grander-Howell, better known as Dusky. The London production duo’s first album, ‘Stick By This,’ was praised by Pete Tong as one of the top album’s of 2011. In 2012, they had their breakout moment with the release of “Flo Jam”, which was eventually dubbed, iTunes Dance Single Of The Year. The UK underground leaders have a diverse house sound that caters to all, and it shows as they have received support from artists in all genres of dance music, from Joy Orbison to Disclosure, Jamie Jones and Sasha, and even Calvin Harris. Check out their mix below and swing by the Ocean View stage on Sunday, March 5, as Dusky will be delivering the house vibes with a live set.
