Everyone has a favorite festival, as well as a reason while. For some it is a consistently quality line up, for others it might be a sense of community, while others might just feel they get great value for a low ticket price. Badass Raves’ dedication and love for Big Dub and its attendees is truly something special, and it has helped to build a name for the festival that is practically unrivaled on the east coast. 1) Four Days Of Adventures
Perhaps the biggest distinguisher between Big Dub and other festivals is its length. Attendees first arrive Wednesday afternoon, and they aren’t asked to start moving out until Sunday. For many in the Big Dub Fam, this extended length makes the event less like a typical music festival, and more like an honest to god vacation from the real world. The best part is that on the first day there isn’t any actual music, it is instead a time for attendees to explore, meet new people, and become more immersed in the loving community that is Big Dub.
2) If You Can Dream It, You Can Build It
One of the most unique things about Big Dub Festival is their encouragement of community run events, workshops, and theme camps. All these things, ESPECIALLY the theme camps, help liven up the festival, and promotes conversation between attendees. There is nothing like exploring the mountain and visually finding people who share your interests, thanks to all the effort they put into building their dream camp, or event. Not only does it make the experience more unique for you, it helps others feel good about their work, as well as the Big Dub community
3) Nature, Maaaaannn
Many festivals are held on relatively flat planes, in which multiple stages and booths, ect, can be set up. There’s nothing wrong with this, and in fact it makes it very easy to move around and enjoy all the festival has to offer. Big Dub, however, does things a little differently; it is held on a wooded mountain, an actual sacred land called Four Quarters Farm. With this land comes some of the most beautiful sights ever seen at a festival. Everything, from the awing view of the stars on the top of the mountain, to the majesty of the stone circle (main stage), and even the playful waters of the Hemlock Hole, make the festival a site for sore eyes to the attendees who cherish touching down on the mountain every July.
4) Take A Chill Pill
Big Dub realizes that five days is a long time, and not everyone wants to, or should party straight through. The great thing about this festival is how easy it makes it to break away and have your own, relaxed, good time. Opposed to some festivals where the stages are all crunched together, Big Dub scatters its stages across the mountain, making it easier to escape the blaring music when you choose to. On top of that, they truly accommodate people who want to relax with things like nightly movie screenings, drum circles, and even a sweat lodge.
5) A Grand Farewell
This one may seem a bit trivial, but personally, one of the coolest things the festival does for its attendees is a fireworks display on the last night. It’s a painful thought to realize the festival is coming to an end, and soon you will have to return to the real world, but Badass gives us all a reason to celebrate one last time.
