Flume’s recent 46 minute Boiler Room set embodied “future sound” in every way we could never describe it before. In 46 minutes Harley Streten purveyed finesse in his mixing, a delicacy among djs and producers alike…no matter the genre, background, or path to success.
By combining elements of hip hop, nu-disco, soul, r&b, dub and a mirage of other unsaturated sounds, Flume helped listeners everywhere grasp the concept of dance music’s future. The ability for music to remain timeless lies within it’s creator’s ability to properly manipulate the stylistic elements which attracted the listeners in the first place. If we can continue to connect the intangible pieces of music’s legendary past with the forward thinking of today’s gifted few, progress within it’s craft is unavoidable.
We’re the kids who refused to imprison our tastes. Our love for EDM is a reflection of the worldly influences our scene possesses as a whole. Flume‘s mix is the perfect example of this forward thinking direction.
