Aussie DJ/producer Flume has been pretty busy in the studio. He hasn’t been focusing on original material lately, but instead making hit songs into extraordinary remixes. Flume has produced remixes for popular artists such as Lorde, Disclosure, and most recently Arcade Fire. He has been gaining quite a lot of buzz because of the infamous way he re-works famous songs. Flume automatically puts you in a good mood with his trademark smooth tones. His lustrous sound creates an addiction that keeps you wanting to listen to more.
Most of Flume’s remixes start off deconstructed and very minimalist. Suddenly, he creates a rising action by mixing in more of his signature sounds. When its time for the drop, you can’t help but groove to his fancy beats. It seems that Flume understands the original artist’s tone and mood of each of the songs he mixes. He especially does this in his mixes of “Afterlife” and “Tennis Court.” Flume puts his own soulful sound into his re-works while still keeping the original artist’s vibes, which makes him the master of all remixes.
The release of his newest mix, “Afterlife,” inspired me to share his other famous renditions. Take a listen to them all down below. Make sure you connect with him on Soundcloud to stay up to date on his new releases. Hopefully he will grace us with more of his ear candy by producing more re-works of popular songs we know and love.
