The other day Flux Pavilion posted on Facebook that he would “give up social media“. His reasoning? “Every vine/twitter/instagram fills a space in my life that could be filled with writing music or delving into projects that essentially mean alot more than a bunch of likes on a website I dont really care about“.
The electronic dance music scene’s record output is higher than most other genres. But sometimes I wonder why some producers rarely release music, especially when I see them tweeting all day long. If quitting all social media accounts means more honest music from Flux, then as a fan, I’m all for it. Social media is great and fun, but when it holds back or distracts an artist from their craft and creative channels, it becomes a problem.
Original Post:
Although in his original post Flux stated: “thanks for getting me where i am today“. From the comments on it, before it was deleted, I could tell that his fan base felt a displeasure with his plans for the future. This led F.P. to drop a second paragraph which refined his previous statement.
Clarifying Post
After reading the passage above, you can see that instead of quitting all together, he will just be taking a break. If you’ve followed him on twitter over the last few months you’d know that he’s working on a new EP. Now that he’s parting ways with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vine, we may get a bunch of new music before we expect it.
