Flying Lotus Releases Tour Dates, Fans Salivating

Yes more FlyLo! Another Flying Lotus tour has been announced and electronic music fans internationally are rejoicing. He has been on the festival grind this summer, playing Electric Forest, The Hudson Music Project, Red Rocks, the Sydney Opera House, and a bunch of international dates. I was lucky enough to catch his sets both at Forest and Hudson and it was quite an experience. I have been drooling over his visual production since I first saw the Layer 3 months ago and after finally being able to experience it my expectations were met and then some.

To start the visuals are incredible. Strangloop and Timeboy put together a visual production that rivals, if not bests, some of the biggest names in the game. Bassnectar and Excision are the only two names I can think of off the top of my head that can even be used in the same sentence as FlyLo when it comes to visuals. The visuals pulse with the beat, swirl around FlyLo while he djs, and explode with color as he lays down filthy track after filthy track. I cannot wait to experience that again at Terminal 5 and in Boston.

His music is another notch on the “Flying Lotus is Awesome” belt. Bass in your face like you only dream about. I was so looking forward to hearing “Flotus” live and unfortunately he didn’t drop that at either shows I’ve seen but I was’t disappointed. His other tracks more than made up for it, specifically the Katy Perry “Dark Horse” that he dropped at both Forest and Hudson. At Hudson he played it so slow and it was so dirty and bass-filled that I swear we sunk a couple more inches into the mud. The only video I can find of it is here and the bass was so heavy that the phone speakers can’t handle it whatsoever. His music is so dark and brooding without being overwhelming and when combined with his visuals the only word I can think of is spectacular.
