A staple of esteemed record label Ghostly International, Fort Romeau’s steady stream of releases champion the innovative and exciting sounds heard in the UK house music scene. In his latest remix, indie band Woman’s Hour has enlisted the help of the producer to tackle their latest track “Conversations”, a beautifully-sung tribute to self-reflection as pondered by front woman Fiona Jane.
The remix finds Fort Romeau retaining the key elements of the original song, notably its pervasive guitar licks, poppy synths, and hauntingly relatable vocals, and adjusting them to more appropriately fit the dance floor. Romeau adds a bouncing drum beat, creates summery synths and bass lines, and twists the airy atmosphere of the original into an almost extraterrestrial mood (aided by the whirring samples which layer the track). While the remix tends to tread lightly on some of the more introspective aspects of the original, Romeau’s remix of “Conversations” does Woman’s Hour justice in translating the track to night clubs and festivals.
The remix teases the promise of both Fort Romeau and Woman’s Hour’s future careers, the latter of which’s album will be released on July 15th. Check out the “Conversations” remix below:
