The first album released on Griz’s label, Liberated Music, comes from a Kansas duo called The Floozies. Producer/ guitarist Matt and drummer Mark Hill bring some serious funk to the electronic scene with their first full length studio album ‘Tell Your Mother.’ This marks a historic moment for the label, the duo, and contemporary funk music.
Mega funky bass guitar beats and snappy vocal samples kick off the album that gets more psychedelic with each track. Electric guitar riffs, the occasional talkbox, and guitar and drum breaks make it impossible to listen to this robot funk, as a fellow blogger calls it, without bobbing your head. We’re loving it because it’s so instinct from other retro electronic sounds out there. You know the brothers could easily kill you with bass, but instead they keep it funky fresh. The title track has Christina Aguilera ‘Dirty’ samples. Need we say more? The Floozies have US tour dates through December 21st. Talk about a seriously groovy show.
