It’s no secret that the East Coast gets down with bass music, but no one could have expected what would happen when two of the biggest names in the game teamed up for an evening of madness down in Richmond, Virginia.
We’re talking about G. Jones and EPROM’s North American tour, which touched down at The Broadberry on October 11. Presented by Baltimore-based production company Steez Promo, the show was a quick sell out, packing the 500 person venue to the brim with bassheads from throughout the VA and DC region. The evening kicked off with a set by Mad Zach, a West Coast beatmaker who specializes in everything dark and psychedelic, providing the perfect foundation for individual sets by the headlining acts. With an unapologetic dose of his signature analog based experimentalism, EPROM swiftly brought the crowd into the dark underground of bass music before letting G Jones take over for a set that was utterly grimy, and unquestionably intoxicating. But all of these sets were only a warm-up for the climax of the evening, a B2B set that put G Jones and Eprom side by side on the decks to deliver a set that bordered the line between industrialized dubstep and music and smooth, psychedelic bass. Dropping tracks from their collaborative EP Acid Disk, the two producers worked the crowd into a frenzy of blissed out bassheads – from the rail all the way to the bars at the back of the club.
If you haven’t yet born witness to the madness that is G Jones and Eprom’s North American Tour, check out tickets and tour dates here and prepare to expect the unexpected – we can tell you from experience that it’s the only form of preparation there is.
