Gesafflestein Takes on Pheonix’s “Bankrupt”

Mike Lévy aka Gesafflestein has lent his hand to a brooding remix of Pheonix’ “Bankrupt”. The Frenchman has produced some nasty tracks in the past with elements of electronica, EBM (Electronic Body Music), and techno. Recently, he worked with Kanye on Yeezus providing his input on “Black Skinhead” and “Send It Up” which may explain his absence from SoundCloud in the past few months.

The original of “Bankrupt” is a switch up from Pheonix usually upbeat and energetic feel, perfect for a treatment by Gesaf. He begins by bringing the lyrics from the second half of the original to the intro for the remix. After a light, breezy build were hit with a fat bassline and a dark synth chord rippling over the top. He breaks that off about halfway through and introduces an eerie tone that leads into a creepy synth progression. This remix is blowing me away the more intimately I listen to it which should be no surprise coming from a quality producer like Gesaf. Check it out below and catch his set if you get a chance
