If Godlands isn’t on your radar yet, it’s about time to put her there. Leading the charge on a fresh new wave of Australian talent, the young upstart is quickly proving why she is far beyond her competition. Just this year she released her first single, Finally, and gave the world a small taste of the shamelessly unique sound she has built. An irresistible product of old-school sounds meeting new school-methods, Goldlands is turning heads quickly and carving a solid niche in the ever-changing landscape of electronic music. Her most recent single, Hit Em Like This, is a perfect testament for the producer’s ability to blow both minds and speakers. You better get used to this future legend because the Godlands era has only just begun. Check out our exclusive interview below!
RR: Tell us a little bit about your roots – How did you get into producing and when did your passion for bass music first surface?
GL: I started DJing about 8 years ago in highschool, I first listened to the Bloody Beetroots and the passion for heavy electro grew from there. My first every trap song I listened to was Diplo’s remix of Demons by Sleigh Bells and the love for Trap & Bass music grew from there. I wanted to become more than just a DJ and knew that production was the next step so I studied electronic music production at SAE and have grown from there.
RR: Where do you draw inspiration from when making new music?
GL: I like scroll through soundcloud, there are so many rad producers out there that are making such dope music as well as looking at huge artists like What So Not or KRNE etc etc
RR: What was it like as ShockOne’s opener of choice on his A Dark Machine Tour?
GL: It was super fun! Being amongst amazing people and getting to play at some awesome venues was such a vibe.
RR: You played at ThisThat Festival on November 4th – How was that?
GL: I had a bunch of fun at ThisThat, I got to tick off my first festival for the year and was able to watch some incredible artists perform.
RR: So you’re the only bass act on the line-up at Party in the Paddock, as well as the only female (so far) on the line-up at Flux Festival. How dope is that?!
GL: Yeah it’s pretty crazy! I’m super lucky to be considered for these festivals and always love being amongst such talented artists.
RR: What can we expect next from Godlands?
GL: I’ll be releasing another track by the end of the year and playing a couple more festivals. Then super pumped for next year woo!
