The cogs at London’s Printworks are well and truly turning again and Gorgon City brought the house, and the iconic lights down, on this stop of their Kingdom Tour in the UK capital. In association with Relentless, an eclectic mix of UK artists got the tunneled crowd dancing along to new tracks, old classics and thought-provoking remixes. This being our second time at London’s newest warehouse venue, we were pleasantly surprised at how processes had changed and how organised Printworks had become a year after opening; this venue will definitely go down in history for hosting big players in the industry.
On Saturday 11th November, a lucky few ticket holders were treated to a Claptone secret pre-party starting at 3pm. However, the real party started in the Press Halls with the bird-beaked techno DJ playing his remix of Gregory Porter’s “Liquid Spirit”, after incredible sets from Klose One and Shadow Child. We popped into Room Two, otherwise known as the Charge Bay, in the middle of Claptone’s set, and we were treated to intimate, dark and heavy sets from NVOY and Friend Within.
Claptone’s remix of Bastille’s “Blame” was a highlight for us and really put the crowd into an excellent mood right before British house DJ Hannah Wants took to the decks. Here, we made our way to the front and were surprised as to how roomy the space was and the warehouse feel the concrete and metal gave to the venue. Starting off with her renowned “You’re Not Alone” remix, Hannah Wants got the audience grooving and took it to another level with LANDER’s “Everybody Wants To Be Somebody” and her track with Chris Lorenzo, “Rhymes”.
Headline act Gorgon City kicked it off with London club favourite, Eats Everything’s “Dancing (Again)” and played their own hit track featuring Yasmin, “Real” that filled up the Press Halls as fans got happy. At this point, the iconic Printworks lights came down and shined the bright lasers in time to the beats of the track. The same happened when Gorgon City’s mix took them to their track with Duke Dumont, featuring NAATIONS, “Real Life”.
