Graff is the DJ/producer duo of Antone Proler and Latane Hughes, both hailing from Houston, TX. The duo was formed in 2010 and has played festivals including EDC Vegas, SnowBall, SnowGlobe, III Points, Primavera Fauna, Splash House, Pacific Festival, and more. Forthcoming gigs include EDC New York this coming weekend, as well as a handful of club gigs throughout the summer. Graff has recently remixed Lindstrom, Sunni Colon, and Bixel Boys and will be releasing their debut EP this summer.
We’ve been digging the new vibe and love the new sounds that Graff has been producing. When you get tired of the womps, trap horns and “sick drops” and want a change of pace we turn to the melodic electro-house almost “tropical” synths that Graff’s sound delivers.
Their music and mixes are hard to categorize, so we asked them to describe it to us:
This mixtape series came out of the idea of having interesting dance-related music to listen to while traveling. A big part of traveling for us is experiencing the various visual elements that comes with all the different parts of this world. These mixtapes are supposed to help soundtrack that traveling imagery and also conjure that escapism element when it’s not necessarily available to you. We lined this up with the hot air balloon symbolism that we use for the Graff project… and that’s how the idea of the “100 Minutes in a Hot Air Balloon” mix series idea was born. Whereas “dance floor friendly” music is supposed to keep your attention, we made these in a way that we almost hope that your attention (and maybe imagination) will drift, and that our mix will be there to soundtrack that drift. Our regular deejay sets are a bit more clubby and rhythmic, but these mixes are intended to be heavily blended, psychedelic, ambient, and overall more musical.
If you’re looking for the perfect mix to listen to while catching some rays out by the pool or beach, a West Coast road trip, something chill to have on in the background while at the office, or just for a causal float in hot air balloon, we highly recommend throwing this on.
