Earlier today, Gramatik announced on Facebook that he will be launching his own record label named ‘Lowtemp’ and is set to drop his first single off ‘Age of Reason’ on Monday. A few weeks ago, he mentioned that there will be ten tracks on the album’s spring release.
The Brooklyn native has long been releasing music on Derek Vincent Smith’s Pretty Lights Music label, where all songs are all available for free download.
Answering his own question via Twitter, @Gramatik answered with a hilarious South Park clip – yes, indeed:
For now, Denis says, he won’t be running an actual label with signed artists – at least for now. More on his big decision:
It’s something I always planned to do and I think it’s something that every artist eventually wants, to be fully independent and have complete creative and executive control of your own artistry. It’s a natural step forward.
Gramatik also made it a point to address the Pretty Lights Family, saying that the time has come for him to be on his own and thanking the mastermind behind the music label, Pretty Lights himself, for helping him reach his ultimate goal.
Incorporating elements of blues, funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul into his unique electro sound, Denis also gives off some serious Eastern European vibes, having spent his early musical career back home on the coast of Slovenia.
His albums are still available for free download on PrettyLightsMusic.com, so give Gramatik some love before he goes all #lowtemp on us.
