Gramatik will be touching down in North America this winter to kick off the second leg of his Re:Coil Tour. After winding his way around Europe, the Brooklyn-based producer will return home to bring his signature brand of bass-infused, jazz-influenced electronica to clubs around the continent with support from Haywyre, MØME, and Big Wild. The tour will visit more than 30 cities across the United States and Canada, beginning in New York City on New Year’s Eve and ending on April 29 in Burlington, VT.
Gramatik, aka Denis Jašarevi?, has become an icon not only as a producer – but as a pioneer in the ongoing fight to de-centralize both music, the internet, and currency. He embraces the “open-source” ethos used by those in the computer software community and applies it to his music, asserting the belief that music should be “constantly circulated and always free.” This philosophy carries over to his latest endeavor; the creation of his own crypto-currency, the GRMTK, that allows fans to control the distribution of his work and, in return, own a part of his intellectual property.
