During a time when more and more people seem to be going to events for all the wrong reasons, Gratitude NYC reminds us what it should all be about. A volunteer-run event out of Brooklyn, Gratitude strives to have attendees leave feeling better than they did walking in. Think of a transformational festival, except on a slightly smaller, tighter feeling scale. Performers and audience members mingle and are encouraged to add all the positive energy they have to the night, blurring the line between artist and attendee.
With many stages and even more workshops such as the Mayan Stage, Atlantean Stage, Silent Disco Dome, Temple of Gratitude and much more, there’s no shortage of activities to get lost in throughout the night. For instance, the Temple of Gratitude is self-described as “the spiritual heart of Gratitude. A peaceful and welcoming space for healing bodywork, talks, tea, spiritual performance, and live visionary art.”
While the music will be killer and will range anywhere from electronic jam bands, to breakbeat, to Indie, the focus here is that there’s so much more to it than music. You have the ability to make what you want of it; either contributing and being directly involved in the night, or if that’s not your thing you can take it all in along with many others. That’s the beauty of it, you’ll get what you put in.
Funds raised throughout the night will be going towards making Burning Man 2015 a reality along with many other worthy causes. In true Playa fashion, the “Leave No Trace” attitude is in full swing at this event, as all MOOP (matter out of place) is expected to be picked up and have the venue being left in its original condition. Running from 3 PM Saturday afternoon straight through to 10 AM Sunday morning, you don’t want to miss out. Check out the link below to get a taste of what you can be a part of this weekend.
