One thing I’m looking forward to as much as festival season is the World Cup. I’m not alone on that; legendary English DJ and soccer – excuse me, futball – fanatic Fat Boy Slim is also counting down the days until this summer’s tournament in Brazil. Slim is putting together an unofficial soundtrack, which he is titling “Bem Brazil,” and a few days ago he dropped a preview of one of the tracks – “Samba do Mundo” by Gregor Salto featuring Saxsymbol & Todorov.
This tune combines the soulful, passionate and iconic music of Brazil – called samba – with classic house elements. Beginning with a chorus of vocals that sound like crowds singing, a heavy use of percussion comes in along with a rhythm that will get your hips swaying before building up and dropping into a pure house jam.
This full project will drop May 28th and you can check out the trailer for it below. According to reports by the Montreal Gazette, F.B.S. is already on his way to Brazil, which is the place where he has played for his biggest crowed – over 360,000 on a beach in Rio: “I’m going to Brazil to play my tunes and help people party. On my days off I can watch (soccer). It’s a no-brainer really, isn’t it?“.
