It’s no secret that Detroit native Grant Kwiecinski, aka GRiZ, has got a lot of love for his hometown. Kwiecinski’s brand of funk and essence as an artist is rooted in his relationship with the city.
In recent years, 12 Days of GRiZMAS has become an annual event spearheaded by GRiZ and his team to give back to the city by supporting public education and encouraging programs that cultivate the city’s artistic spirit.
Beginning on December 4 through December 16, GRiZ’s 12-day charity series will offer a series of philanthropic events leading up to two back-to-back shows at the Detroit Masonic Temple – the largest Masonic Temple in the world.
By turning the benefit of this cause towards fostering the spirit of Detroit, GRiZ continues to set the intention towards further development in his own backyard
This year’s activities include a Holiday pop-up shop — aka the GRiZMAS Workshop, caroling, community volunteering, yoga, a local mic night, roller disco, a barcade charity event, and more. Following a tradition started in 2017, night one at the Masonic Temple will feature the return of the 15 piece GRiZ live band.
Operating from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm every day of the series, the GRiZMAS Workshop acts as a hub for hosting engaging community events like arts and crafts for kids and an ongoing holiday coat drive.
Last year, the charity received hundreds of donated coats, warm winter accessories and toys which went to St. Vincent de Paul of Southeast Michigan, a nonprofit providing critical support to those in need.

The announcement of this year’s GRiZMAS follows GRiZ’s celebrated return to social media, as well as the release of two new singles marking a new wave of GRiZ music, one that Grant raps on himself and another with a feature from GRAMMY-nominated singer and rapper DRAM.
