When GRiZ drops a new track, you listen. It is your duty as a fan of electronic music to stop what you’re doing and see what kind of sonic masterpiece Grant Kweicinski has in store for you. In the past year the talented Detroit native has skyrocketed in popularity; from playing a number of festivals, to headlining his own tour, to starting his own music label, there seems to be no stopping this saxophone-wielding madman.
In honor of Throwback Thursday, or #tbt, Grant presented us with “Throwback,” a funky track in which he “messes around with new sounds” and dips his toes into the chill trap waters. This might not be a “Mr. B” or a “Gettin’ Live,” but it’s always a welcomed sight to have artists test the boundaries of their production styles. In true GRiZ fashion, the sweet, sexy, sultry sax rears its beautiful head towards the final minute, reminding you that no matter where his music may turn, the saxophone always follows. Catch Grant this summer at Counterpoint, The Hudson Project, Hard Summer, Shambhala, and a handful of Mad Decent Block Party events. Give “Throwback” a listen below, and keep an eye out for the free download coming soon.
