We’re sad to announce that the music streaming website Grooveshark has been shut down permanently. The creators of the site have addressed their users with a screen on their page that reads as follows:
Apparently some mistakes were made and some of the wrong people were made angry and caused the owners of the site to decide it was time to wrap it up and call it quits. Although we acknowledge that the site was in a bit of a legal grey area, we support free music and wish them all the best going forward.
If you were a hardcore Grooveshark fan, you may be looking for an alternative way to consume streaming music. A few months ago Reddit put us onto Streamus which is a Google Chrome extension that allows you to search for music via YouTube and lets you build playlists quickly and effectively. It’s also loaded with a customizable keyboard shortcut section (drool) that makes the interface easy to navigate and seamless. Check it out!
