Flash is the latest addition to DC’s ever expanding live music scene and it has everything in place to fill a void in the market we never even knew was there. Taking cues from the paths to success led by venues like U Street Music Hall, the 930 Club and Echostage – Flash has elements from each that they’ve intricately combined in a way that is completely unique.
The venue size is intentionally small to create the intimate setting we find comfort in at U Street Music Hall. The sound system; however, rivals those found in big room concert halls like the 930 Club but the decor is even more modern and intriguing than that of Echostage. With that in mind, Darkroom has chosen to partner with Flash to exploit their powerful Full Fat Audio system for a new kind of sound and their one-of-a-kind atmosphere to stage a new kind of live music experience.
Their vision for the future of the venue includes bringing a diverse range of electronic artists that will complement the energy of the club. Darkroom sees these artists as being mavericks of the current electronic scene that may not have had the opportunity to perform in this city before this point. Their ultimate goal being to expand the musical horizons in the DC area, something which all true music lovers can support.
The first event is taking place Thursday, January 30th and Darkroom has chosen Guy J to headline their venture. His ambient sound is seductive and immersive in a way that wholly captures his audience, allowing him to move them in a way that is as innate as breathing. He invites you on a intrinsic and emotive journey as his sound evolves from beat to beat. The young Israeli producer brings a soulful energy that will thrive in the atmosphere at Flash and hopefully open a gateway for other anomalous artists to flood the city.
