I’m not sure what is preventing Happy Sometimes from blowing up into the mainstream, it seems like everything is in the right place musically with the LA based singer’s EP Video Tapes. Happy Sometimes reminds me a ton of Foxes’s EP release Glorious except brought into a more 2016 frame. Every tune has originality and it’s own vibe, many of them embracing popular genres of today like future bass and dark electronic-r&b / indie sounds, but the overall experience is blanketed by a seductive gracefulness.
Happy Sometimes does something that few EPs or LPs do today but used to do often before the internet took over, lets you identify strongly with the artist of focus via traveling through a diverse musical experience with them. Happy Sometimes will be easily loved by fans of Hasley, AlunaGeorge, Foxes, and Laura Brehm.
