In December of 2010, a videographer Robin Piree, responsible for Hardwell’s Q&A sessions and sick aftermovies, embarked on a three year tour around the world capturing moments surrounding Hardwell and the immense impact he has had on the massive scene that is electronic dance music. The result: “I am Hardwell” a full length rare sneak peak into Robbert van de Corput’s life. The Hardwell documentary, encompassing his motto: “If you can dream it, you can do it,” is rumored to release on October 17th at the Amsterdam Dance Event.
Hailing from a small town in the Netherlands, Hardwell began climbing the ladder to musical stardom at age 13 when he caught the attention of a Dutch music label. The young mastermind captivated the ears of party goers in his home country shortly after and his international fame was born when his Show Me Love vs. Be mashup smashed the 2009 dance charts. Robbert van de Corput is now living out his 16-year old dream of being one of the biggest DJs in the world.
The future of edm knows no boundaries in Hardwell’s opinion. “I think you can combine every single genre in one track,” he said in an interview earlier this year. “As long as the track sounds good and it’s good to dance to, it’s dance music. I always like people who think out of the box and do what they want to do. And that’s what I’m going to do in the future.”
