If you haven’t heard ATL native Herobust’s new I’m Aloud EP yet, then you’re definitely missing out. This new EP is arguably one of the best of 2016 thus far, and was much anticipated since his 2011 EP and “Pump This” collaboration with Snails.
The I’m Aloud EP includes 8 dirty tracks, all encompassing his attitude for breaking the rules, finding his own wave and forgetting what everyone else was doing. Each song has enough bass to break the sound barrier, while including abrasive synths, future bass and incredible melodies. His self-recorded hip-hop incorporation also adds that little bit of ATL flavor, reminding everyone of his roots.
I called this record I’m Aloud because, in creating it, I had to realize that I was allowed to break the rules. I just decided to forget what everybody else was doing and find my own wave. The resulting body of work is honest, original and generally weird as hell. I’m very proud of the EP and I hope it inspires other artists to get weird in their very own ways as well. Be allowed. Be aloud.
