About a week ago, we were writing about HYWKS’ newest track, “With Me” ft. Xavier Mayne. With this release, the artist took the time to answer a few questions for us. If you love “With Me” as much as we do, get to know more about the artist behind the track, his background, life as a producer, and upcoming projects below:
RaverRafting: Hi! Could you tell us a bit about how you started out with music?
HVWKS: I originally started playing guitar and playing in a bunch of bands which lead me into electronic music.
RR: What is the most difficult part about being a producer? What about being a DJ?
HVWKS: The hardest thing about being a producer is keeping your mind fresh with ideas and not clouding yourself, writer’s block is the worst thing to get so I try and give myself breaks every now and then. Being a DJ is not really that hard if anything its just making sure your sets are full of a little something for everyone.
RR: Your last track, “Black and Blue”, received quite a lot of praise. Do you feel “With Me” has allowed you to evolve? Will it rise above the success “Black and Blue” had?
HVWKS: “Black & Blue” had a crazy response and I’m really happy with how it went, “With Me” is something a little different that I wanted to showcase more of an EDM sound.
RR: How did you and Xavier get to work together?
HVWKS: Xavier is a friend from high school so we have kinda grown up together with our music careers, Linking up with him was really easy and it worked really well.
RR: If there was someone who didn’t listen to “With Me”, how would you describe the track to them?
HVWKS: A club banger with really cool vocals.
RR: You have an upcoming EP. That’s exciting! What can we expect?
HVWKS: This EP was something I’ve wanted to do for a while so getting it right from the start was something I had to do. The EP has everything from Future Bass to Wonky Trap.
RR: Any plans we should know about?
HVWKS: I’m currently on my “Birds Of Prey” Tour but I have some pretty big announcements to make after it’s done!
