New York-based producer and DJ, Barkin, has released his first official remix, a hard-hitting reinterpretation of I AM’s “Daft Dead.” Rooted in the Bass House genre, the remix aligns with Barkin’s signature sound, adding a heavy, club-friendly energy to the original track.
In the remix, Barkin adopts an engaging structure, beginning with high-energy beats before building a palpable tension. The drops are characterized by powerful, stuttering electric synths and unique robotic-like fills. A distinct bridge section further enhances the auditory experience before the second drop introduces new twists.
This remix is a part of a remix compilation alongside other artists including Aegyptus, Fitment, FuchinLuke, SLAYJAY, and Subtractive, all from the Icon Collective school. Barkin’s musical journey, which began over three years ago at the Icon Collective Music School, is driven by his passion for dance music and its ability to provide an escape from everyday life. His goal is to revitalize the House genre with heavy synths, punchy basslines, and deep-moving breakdowns while ensuring each track tells a meaningful narrative.
