In today’s society when seemingly every person of interest (and those of no interest for that matter) use social media, the true reality of free speech can too easily be displayed over mass audiences. Such was the case yesterday when bass-music magician ill.Gates posted the above picture, saying “Don’t Join The Army” to his Facebook. He added it along with the following message:
If you’re considering joining the military: don’t do it!
#TrustMe
WRR neither agrees nor disagrees with his statement, but it definitely sparked a mix of opinions from fans.
ill.Gates made a few responses himself to further clarify his message, however:
While we have freedom of speech in this country (which is an immense blessing), sometimes messages like these can be taken the wrong way from ears who aren’t ready to hear them. WRR respects ill.Gates for giving a brutally honest opinion on the matter, however and backing it up with reasons.
What do you think? Should musicians, celebrities and other POIs have a say in social issues such as these?
