Two years have transformed Atlanta.
It’s always been the unofficial capital of the Southeast United States, but since 2012, it has emerged as the Southeast’s capital of awesome music festivals.
With Tomorrowworld, Counterpoint Music Festival, Magnetic Music Festival, Shaky Knees Music Festival, and the long-standing Sweetwater Music and Midtown Music festivals, this city has started to bring the funk in a serious way.
Now, another festival is bringing some groove to the ole’ South.
Imagine Music Festival, taking place Aug. 30 and Aug. 31, just dropped their second lineup announcement, including names such as Adventure Club, Crystal Castles, Ployd, ill.gates and Supervision.
The two-day-long, outdoor festival will invade 17-acres of Atlanta’s Historic Fourth Ward Park, Masquerade Music Park and Clear Creek Basin from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Iris Presents, which is organizing the festival, will begin to sell tickets this week for its two official after-parties for those who don’t want to stop dancing.
The line-up is also among the more diverse of the summer, with already announced headliners such as Adventure Club, Fedde Le Grand and Destroid (Excision, Downlink and KJ Swaka) as well as support from Rusko, Infected Mushroom, Purity Ring, Paper Diamond, Beats Antique and many other creative acts.
Names you don’t see: DJs who spew paint-by-numbers sets and super-expensive acts who do little more than press the play button (think “Saturday Night Live”‘s Davincii).
But there will be more than just music, organizers say. Circus-style performers — such as fire-spinners, acrobats, aerialists and fire-breathers — will help to transport festival-goers to an imaginary world, complete with trippy art installations against the Atlanta skyline.
If you’re feelin’ fancy, VIP guests will have access to The Masquarade, a legendary Atlanta live-music venue. There, organizers say, VIP festival-goers can rub elbows with some of the artists, drink (if you’re 21 or older) and enjoy some air-conditioning.
This is the first festival solely organized by Iris Presents, which is known for putting together some of Atlanta’s biggest and baddest EDM shows.
Tickets are available here and cost $100 for general admission and $300 for VIP.
