One of the most prominent companies in the dance music industry, Insomniac Events has just announced a partnership with Interscope Records to form a new electronic music label, Insomniac Records. It being the company responsible for several noteworthy festivals including the renowned Electric Daisy Carnival (with its Las Vegas contingent being North America’s largest dance music festival, having brought in a staggering total of 345,000 attendees last year), Insomniac Events has continually pushed the limits of what a promoter can do, and has played an integral role in the growth of the rave scene.
According to Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella, this new endeavour is said to be a pivotal step forward from Insomniac’s “Discovery Project“, and will strive to pump some fresh tunes into the genre, as well as help some burgeoning and innovative artists come to surface within the scene. Rotella further expressed his thoughts about this venture in a statement made in a Facebook post:
Headliners, I’m grateful and excited about our label partnership with Interscope Records! This has been a longtime dream, and in many ways a natural progression to the Discovery Project. I’m also honored that this project is to be Interscope’s first official dance music label. To be a part of their amazing legacy is one for the Insomniac history books!
Insomniac Records will be dedicated to fostering the unique talents of a select group of artists, and giving them a powerful platform on which to share their music with fans around the world. I remember the first time I heard Human Resource’s “Dominator” blasting out of the speakers at an L.A. underground party. Watching the dancefloor explode and seeing people react with such positive energy was a huge moment for me, and I hope we can create similar moments for people around the world. This is about discovering and sharing good, quality music that represents all of the diverse, passionate and enthusiastic creators that fuel our community.
In order to accomplish this goal, we need to be accessible to producers of every size, whether they’re making beats in their bedroom or have already performed in front of tens of thousands of fans. If you send in music, we will listen. Our amazing team is hard at work building our roster, and we are wide open to any genre of dance music—everything from underground sounds to big room bangers will be in rotation.
The first artist to be signed to Insomniac Records is none other than the esteemed 19-year-old Russian producer, ARTY, who has already performed for sizeable crowds at various Insomniac festivals. With both Interscope and Insomniac being two of the most powerful forces in the scene at the moment, dance music fans can definitely look forward to hearing some big things from this new label in the near future.
Producers: Music submissions from anyone can be sent in for consideration at www.insomniacrecords.com.
